Removing a pool
Question from Miki: We have an indoor swimming pool that is surrounded by a brick structure. We would like to fill the pool in and create a family room out of the area - what is the best way to do that? Thanks.
Jake's Answer: We have removed swimming pools that were installed on the exterior. To accomplish this we removed the upper 1 to 2 feet of the side walls and let these fall into the pool. We then in-filled the pool with 3/4" gravel in 12” lifts. The gravel is installed within 4” of the pool deck. Re-bar was placed and new concrete was installed to be flush with the existing deck. You are then ready to install your finished floor. Let the concrete cure for a minimum of 7 days.
