Wet and wild

Jake

I recently had water damage done to my laundry room and carpet in family room due to busted water hose. My insurance company told me paint the walls in the laundry room and get carpet stretching and cleaning of the carpet in the family room. Is this the correct thing to do since the carpet is six years old and the carpet padding was never inspected for condition? Same question for the dry wall (no inspection of the dry wall by licensed contractor as of yet)?  julia h

If you read the fine print of your policy and consult with your agent, you should have a process on how you can contest your claim.  You should have the opportunity to have a contractor of your choice come in and inspect the damage and provide you with an estimate to make the repair work.  If your insurance company disagrees with your claim, they may send one of their own adjusters to review the damage.   If you do not have someone you can call, most insurance companies have a list of contractors they work with.   If you can not come to an agreement, there is an arbitration process that you may have to use.  Stick to your guns, "Those who ask, more often than not, receive".  Good luck
