Clothes Chute

How can I add a new liner to an existing clothes chute opening?  The old aluminum duct work that used to line it was removed before we purchased the
home.

name: Fehren

Fehren,

This  could be very difficult to do if you don't have a straight shot from the basement, where I assume the chute ends up.  If you do have a straight shot, you could have some "duct liner" made up at a sheet metal shop that will fit the area of the chute.   You could also make up the chute liner from a slick masonite material.   Make them in lenghts that will allow you to fit one to the other as you add to it as you push it up the chute.  For the best finish at each openning, pre-determine where the cut outs are to occur and cut these out prior to sending them up the chute.

If you don't have a straight shot from the basement, you will probably have to remove the wall section at the front of the chute to allow for the installation of the liner.

Good luck!
